Nostalgia: Do You Remember These?

After raising three sons and going through all of the TV Super Heroes and Trends of the 80's...Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Batman, Transformers...I thought I would go back in time and find a few trends of my era...
Winky Dink was really cool...you could order a plastic screen that fit over your tv monitor and draw right along with Winky....I know I had one!

Captain Kangaroo aired from 1955 until 1984, starring Bob Keeshan, ex Clarabell the Clown on The Howdy Doody Show.
The show taught manners, respect and how to play well with others. Also starring was Mr. Greenjeans, a farmer type guy, who taught kids how to be nice to animals...and then there was Mr. Bunny Rabbit! Bob Keeshan screened all of the aired commercials, seeing that only wholesome info was aired for the kids. Unlike the garbage we have today...

Also featured on Captain Kangaroo was Tom Terrific and his Mighty Dog Manfred...God I loved that show...what a trip!
Who can forget Amos and Andy...with Kingfish and Sapphire! Whoa Andy....what am I gonna do? Those were the good old days...Amos and Andy began on the radio with white actors but when televised in 1950 black actors were used. Soon the accusations of rascisim swirled around the show. Even though it went off the air in 1953 it was frequently seen in syndication. Civil rights groups complained that the characters stereotyped blacks and in 1966 it was pulled. However, it maintains a place in history as the first dramatic show with an all black cast.
She was the Queen of Comedy, and one of my favorites...I Love Lucy!
He's not Kevin Costner, but he was a mighty fine Robin Hood back in the day!
The Gidget TV series was a spin off with Sally Field, based on the Gidget Movies starring teen star Sandra Dee

Every saturday, we all gathered around the black and white tube to watch Sheena...the 50's answer to Lucy Lawless! Sheena, Queen of the Jungle
And last but not least, The Little Rascals with Spanky, Alfalfa and Buckwheat!
Here I Come...to save the day! There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!
